Welcome to Argonaut Drama!

Argonaut Drama Argonaut High Drama gives students knowledge and understanding of the ancient art of theatre through reading, analysis, discussion, rehearsal, stagecraft, and performance.

Beginning Drama focuses on the fundamentals of acting through improvisation, scene work, and the practicum of performance.

Advanced Drama builds on these skills, adding the components of classical acting and festival competition.

Stagecraft teaches students the technical aspects of theatrical production, allowing for hands-on practical work.

Yearly performance projects include talent showcases, a live holiday radio show, participation in regional theatre festivals, student-directed one-acts, children's theatre, and a yearly Shakespeare production.

Argonaut Drama has been regularly acknowledged for excellence in high school theatre, winning Gold (2016) and Silver (2020, 2013) for overall production at the Lenaea Theatre Festival, and Superior (2018, 2014) and Excellent (2016, 2015, 2013) at the Motherlode Drama Festival.

Argonaut Drama presents 11th Annual Christmas Carol
A Holiday Benefit to Support ATCAA and the Homeless in Our Community

Argonaut Drama
On Friday, December 16, the Drama Department of Argonaut High School will be joining forces with Hometown Radio to create a fabulous evening of holiday entertainment, including a one-hour staged reading of A Christmas Carol, with a specially crafted music score and live sound effects performed by the students.

The performance will be recorded live on KVGC and broadcast during the holiday season.

In keeping with the true spirit of the holiday, this year, all funds raised will go to ATCAA, the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency, a local charity whose vision is "for residents to be self-reliant, healthy, free from economic hardship, feeling sustained by the support of community and family, and able to achieve their maximum potential as engaged citizens." Specifically, Argonaut Drama wishes to use their performance to assist with ATCAA's homeless shelter in Jackson.

The performance of A Christmas Carol is only one part of the evening's family-friendly festivities, guaranteed to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Doors open at 5:15pm for hot cocoa, treats, a dessert auction, live music, and special holiday surprises including an appearance by Santa and a real life "Elf on the Shelf." A Christmas Carol will begin at 6pm.

Ticket prices are only $10 when purchased in advance, $15 at the door. Children aged 4-10 are $5 ($10 at the door). Because of the nature of the performance, a recorded-live broadcast, children younger than 4 are not recommended.

To purchase tickets, see any Drama student, or print out the Ticket Order Form, which may be dropped off at the school. For more information, contact Mrs. Flint at dflint@acusd.org
